Michele Morrison | Executive Producer
Michele Morrison holds a BFA in Dance from Point Park University where she attended on full scholarship. She has received awards for her performance and choreography, including the Dance Magazine “Craft of Choreography” Scholarship. Her career has encompassed many facets in the entertainment field ranging from performance, choreography, staging, directing, production and producing.
Prior to joining the Poet Team, Michele enjoyed a performance career highlighted by spending several years as a specialty adagio artist onboard numerous cruise ships, and two years as a soloist in Ballet Mississippi. She starred in the BBC 12-part documentary “The Cruise” and appeared in the BBC’s “Return to The Cruise”, featured in numerous television commercials, as well as starred in an independent feature film with Tony Sirico, Frank Vincent and Joseph Marino.
Since 1999, Michele has produced and directed numerous customized shows and corporate events for The POET Companies. She has produced, stage directed, choreographed and performed in Poet Productions’ presentations of Vertigo, Physical Magic®, Circo Luci®, Extreme Variety, Cirque on Ice® and Luminaire®.
In 2005, Michele directed and produced DEZIRE: Temptations of Touch® at Casino Figueira, a fusion of dance, aerial performance, pop music and illusion.
Michele produced and directed the mega spectacles FOUR: Spirit of the Elements (an aerial, acrobatic and special effects spectacular) and Visions: the Spirit of Dreams (an acrobatic and grand illusion spectacular) for Casino Estoril, Europe’s largest casino in 2007 and 2009. Featuring a stage over 70 feet wide and over 50 performers, each of these mega productions thrilled casino guests during their multi-year performance runs.
Michele directed several of the very successful Circo Luci® theatrical cirque-style shows including the original Circo Luci in 2003 and the holiday productions of both Cirque Noel® and A Nutcracker Cirque®. Using her experience as a professional working ballerina, Michele successfully fused ballet dance artistry with cirque style acrobatic and aerial performances creating a new holiday circus spectacular in the creation of “A Nutcracker Cirque”. A Nutcracker Cirque reimagines the classic tale of the Nutcracker with a cirque-style twist and fuses that artistry with a modernized take on the music and visuals. Michele produced the US Military tours of both Circo Luci holiday cirque-style productions as well as all 5 US Military Tours performed by Circo Luci in Japan.
In 2008, 2009 and 2010 Michele installed directed the first three Circo Luci theatrical cirque-style shows Solstice®, Equinox and Eclipse onboard Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice class ships of the same names. In addition to presenting live entertainment productions on cruise ships with the same size and scope of land-base theatrical circus entertainment, these productions also represented the first true theatrical circus productions at sea used the production cast members from the vessels.
As Executive Producer for the The POET Companies and POET Theatricals’ Marine division, Michele designed the casting, artistic and training maintenance programs for all 15 shows presented on board the Celebrity Solstice Class vessels from 2008 to 2016. This ground breaking performer training program successfully trained dancers in the aerial performance arts, enabling true theatrical circus presentations on board cruise vessels for the first time.
As a corporate entertainment producer and director, Michele has worked on corporate events worldwide, launching products, creating trade show entertainment attractions, and custom corporate event entertainment. Michele has worked in locations across Asia, South America, the United States and Europe for clients as diverse as the US Air Force, Oracle, Allergan, Ford, General Motors, Lexus, Sysco and Microsoft.
