Reverie - Cirque on Ice

In 2009, Circo Luci premiered the second installment of their successful Cirque on Ice productions, REVERIE, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for a 6-week arena run. The show was performed in a purpose-built building that housed the ice arena and featured 180-degrees of blended front and ceiling projections, blended over 18 separate projectors that created a backdrop of an arctic wonderland.

REVERIE is the dream of Aurora, the child-like spirit of the northern light. An eternal child, Aurora fantasizes of what she would be as a grown-up. She creates a dreamlike older “self” to experience her future world of wonder in a mystical place created by the reflection of light off of ice. As young Aurora drifts off to sleep, she encounters the Traveler, who opens the Dream Box, unleashing a host of eccentric creatures, elements of light and darkness, and a glimpse of her future. She dreams of soaring to the skies as fantastic gifts of dreams are given to her in the forms of colorful characters, graceful skaters, dynamic acrobats and beautiful melodies. As Aurora takes to the sky leaving this dream world of fire and ice, of games and pixies, of icicles and creatures, she unites with her future self, her destiny, her REVERIE.

The Reverie: Cirque on Ice soundtrack is an epic, orchestrated take on an vast mystical ice world. The score is a sonic walk through the dream of Aurora, sharing the wide swings in emotions of a child.

Ambient soundscapes lend a richness to the overall grandeur of orchestrations, while sonically, the score moves from epic orchestral pieces, to rock and roll, to country, to blues and pop. Aurora’s theme threads the pieces together, giving a true musical story to the composition.
