Ghostlight

The Spirit of Broadway

GHOSTLIGHT: The Spirit of Broadway from Ghostlight Theatricals premiered in 2008, coinciding with the launch of the Celebrity Solstice, the first Solstice-Class vessel from Celebrity Cruise Lines. GHOSTLIGHT was the first musical theater tribute from Ghostlight Theatricals to be performed on a cruise vessel.

With over 500 performances, more than 650,000 spectators, three engagement extensions, and over 8 years at sea, GHOSTLIGHT has brought the magic of musical theater to cruise guests around the world.

GHOSTLIGHT: The Spirit of Broadway completed its performance run at sea in 2015 and has been completely updated and reconfigured for land based performances and can be seen in theaters, casinos and custom showrooms around the world. The show can adapt to several different types of unique and specialized entertainment locations, including convention centers, temporary spaces, tents, open areas, retail venues and outdoor settings.

We hope you have a chance to see the show live!

The “ghost light” is a theatrical tradition (or superstition some might say) that dates back to the days of William Shakespeare. Back in the days of Shakespeare it used to be a single candle that glowed on the stage at night to ward of the ghosts of past performances. It has now modernized into a single light left on at night on the edge of an unoccupied theater stage.

GHOSTLIGHT the show follows a cast of musical theater performers on the last night of their performance before their theater closes. After the show, the cast reminisces about the great shows of musical theater, reliving the magic of those past performances. The “reliving” of the feeling and history of these performances and their impact acts as a thread through the live show that seamlessly weaves together the different hits from musical theater.

GHOSTLIGHT the show showcases these pivotal moments in the history of musical theater through the passionate vocal and dance performances delivered by a talented cast of amazing artists. The show relives the best musicals of Broadway and the West End through song and dance set in an antiquated backstage of a closing theater.

GHOSTLIGHT: The Spirit of Broadway is available for booking for multi-week engagements worldwide. The show has been designed to perform in a theater and is best presented in this type of performance space. The show can be modified to perform in other types of venues.

GHOSTLIGHT: The Spirit of Broadway is part of the 3 show “Solstice Package” from POET Theatricals. The other productions that are included with the “Solstice Package” are PULSE (a music, percussion and dance themed show) and SOLSTICE (a European cirque-style theatrical circus production).

Show packages from POET Theatricals allow venues to maximize production impact inexpensively by allowing presentation of three dramatically different shows utilizing one performing cast and one preproduction expenditure. Each of the POET Theatricals’ show “packages” represents over 2.5 million dollars in capital expenditure investment in the production’s costumes, sets, flying automation, video and music.

Show packages are best used in venues that have repeat customers (casinos with strong local market draw for example), guests that are residing in the venue (vacation destination resort hotels), or travelers that are moving from place to place with the venue (cruise ships).

POET Theatricals has the ability to “mix and match” show packages depending on audience demographics.
